In statement, Jim Greenwood, BIO President and CEO, said he was pleased to hear President Obama's words about the promise of a large scale genomics project to help understand the basis of chronic disease. A large-scale national research commitment to chronic conditions would identify precursors and early signs of disease or disease risk to unlock the root causes of these conditions that threaten the health of loved ones and undermine the nation’s fiscal health.

BIO announces that Jamie Gregorian will be joining BIO staff as Director, Federal Government Relations. Gregorian comes to BIO after 5 years with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Jamie was AAOS' Senior Manager, Government Relations and Specialties where he worked on variety of health-related issues and oversaw all advocacy efforts related to judiciary matters, medical research, defense, appropriations, and subspecialty interests.

BIO Welcomes Oregon's Vote to implement Clean Fuels Program.

Oregon Environmental Quality Commission vote to implement Oregon's Clean Fuels Program was deemed positive step for advanced biofuel producers and technology developers. According to BIO's Brent Erickson, this implementation "will provide a strong signal to the advanced biofuel industry that investments in producing cleaner fuels can pay off." Erickson applauded Oregon's work towards reducing carbon emissions within transportation sector and replacing foreign oil with biofuels.
