AT&T Q3 results drop on Covid impact, subscriber numbers start to recover

(Telecompaper) AT&T reported a drop in third-quarter revenues and profit, due mainly to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on its entertainment business. Subscriber numbers showed some signs of recovery, with over 1 million postpaid net adds in the mobile market and broadband growth thanks to subsidised offers during the pandemic. AT&T said it now expects to generate free cash flow of at least USD 26 billion this year and pay out just over 50 percent of that in dividends.

Global IPTV subscriber numbers continue to grow

Digital TV Research estimates that pay TV subscriptions increased by 16 million to 1,028 million in 2019, driven by growth in emerging markets. IPTV is the pay TV winner, adding 49 million subscribers in 2019.

iflix subscriber numbers up 250% in 1H 2018

iflix has announced that it now has more than 15 million subscribers to its service, on the back of 250% growth since January 2018. The first half of 2018 has been a period of significant change for iflix as the service evolves away from the traditional Western SVOD model.

LTE subscriber numbers double to 1.29 bln in Q1

(Telecompaper) LTE gained 182 million connections in Q1, that's almost 4 times faster than 3G/HSPA systems, according to a report by the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). 3G/HSPA subscriptions grew by 48 million while GSM subscriptions fell by 120 million in the same quarter. The number of LTE and LTE-Advanced subscriptions is expected to pass the 3G/WCDMA-HSPA global total in 2020, and possibly sooner. Analysing mobile subscriptions data provided to GSA by Ovum for Q1, GSA said that the number of LTE and LTE-Advanced subscriptions reached 1.29 billion worldwide by 31 March. Over 645 million LTE subscriptions worldwide were gained during the past year, representing 100 percent annual growth.
