ResponsibilitiesDuties Your principal task will be the continuous development of various tools for the overall system and ground segment Validation Verification VV. You will work in strong cooperation with our team and EUMETSAT engineers across the organization. To challenge your skills, we will involve you directly in the VV of the data processing chains of the different instruments onboard EPSSG. QualificationsExperience What are we looking for? Maybe for you, with at least 3 years of background in satellite instruments with a proven focus on Data Processing for earth observation. Of course, you are easily understanding the relating physics processes in such satellite instruments together with a university degree in the domain of engineering, science or equivalent. Essential Skills We need you with professional skills in CC, Python, or Java in a LinuxUnix environment and the latest software development tools and methods are your daily business. We dont have to tell you about onground data processing systems or test data sets. Teamwork and ones own initiative is what you enjoy Capable of working both individually and independently on assigned responsibilities, while you are part of the system team. We are of course looking for good interpersonal and communication skills! NonEssential Skills Ideally, you are already familiar with various types of spaceborne observation techniques. EPSSG is the European component of the Joint Polar System JPS, which is based on a cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA. EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with the launch of MetopSG A in mid2021 followed by the second satellite MetopSG B 18 months later. Two recurrent MetopSG A and B satellites will be provided and launched in order to achieve a minimum of 21 years of operations. While EUMETSAT relies on a cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA for the development of the satellite and of a subset of instruments, EUMETSAT will develop and procure a dedicated Ground Segment GS. Existing technologies and infrastructure elements that are already in operation in the EUMETSAT headquarters shall be capitalized as well as the Satellite Application Facilities SAF network.
