Position Reference 974 We are currently looking for two PDGS SubSystems Engineers to work at our client premises in the city of Frascati, Italy. The key persons will provide technical expertise to support the EarthCARE PDGS subsystems Technical officer for the procurement of the subsystems dedicated to the PDGS Data Processing or the PDGS Mission Planning and Ground Segment Monitoring. The support is intended to be provided from phase CD to phase E1 and possibly during phase E2. The scope of the activity encompasses PDGS subsystems specification PDGS subsystems development PDGS subsystems integration and validation into the PDGS PDGS subsystems evolutions during phase E2. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include During phase CDE1 Management Support to the PDGS subsystems technical officers for Preparation of the PDGS subsystems managerial documentation e.g. implementation plan Preparation of the PDGS subsystems contractual documentation e.g. SoWs Coordination of industries in charge of PDGS subsystems development Coordination of PDGS subsystems reviews. Preparation of the PDGS SubSystems requirements documents. Support to PDGS specification for the part relevant for the implementation of one of these subsystems PDGS Data processing or PDGS mission planning and mission monitoring e.g. Interface Control Documents. Support the acceptance by the PDGS Project of PDGS external CFIs. Review of documentation from various sources ESA, Industry during the project phases dealing with subsystems implementation and testing. Participation to Ground Segment Reviews and PDGS reviews organized either by ESA or by Industry. Management of the review item discrepancies, system or software problem reports and action linked to PDGS SubSystems implementation contracts. Generation of technical notes whenever needed during the relevant project phases. Operations of the various supporting tools for the part relevant to the PDGS subsystems implementation e.g. Documentation Management System. Support to the PDGS Integration and Validation and Ground Segment Validation phases addressing for the relevant PDGS subsystems Integration of the facility within the PDGS Definition of integration and validation tests Run of integration and validation tests procedures Test results analysis Test reporting. Support for operators training and preparation of operational documentation for the relevant PDGS subsystems Support for definition and documentation of the PDGS Commissioning Implementation Plan and procedures for the relevant PDGS subsystems Support for the preparation of the launch and the implementation of rehearsal activities for the relevant PDGS subsystems Support for the management of PDGS Operations, system behavior monitoring and reporting during commissioning for the relevant PDGS subsystems Adhoc development of tools for the accomplishment of the PDGS subsystems engineering, testing and validation, etc. During phase E2 Support for the subsystems impact analysis of new PDGS requirements deriving from new user needs andor new operational needs. Support to the PDGS subsystems specification evolution. Coordination of industry in charge of PDGS subsystems evolution and maintenance. Generation of technical notes whenever needed during the mission lifetime. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in engineering or Remote Sensing. Proven experience in one of the following subsystems PDGS Data processing, PDGS mission planning PDGS mission monitoring Experience on ground segments implementation, in particular on Requirements specification Development of PDGS subsystems Integration and validation System and Software anomalies management reporting, analysis, classification and resolution. Knowledge of the ECSS standards and, as an asset, documentation and configuration control management techniques. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Project management experience, preferably in the field of Earth Observation Ground Segment Development. Knowledge of the ESA Earth Explorers missions and instruments and processes related to their PDGS development. ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Spacecraft Engineer, Payload Subsystem will be part of the Payload Engineering team, leading payload inorbit operations and the design and implementation of innovative operational solutions for the SES fleet. In this position, our engineers will support satellite mission operations, enhance our performance monitoring and analysis toolkits, and contribute to dynamic endtoend design solutions. In our team, engineers develop and operate new payload missions, design contingency scenarios for satellite resiliency, and support new spacecraft procurement, launch and inobit test characterization. Over time, each team member builds a custom skillset and expertise, across a wide technical breadth, to make an impacting contribution to the success of our missions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Monitor health status and provide oncall support for satellites in operation, including recovery and followup of eventual spacecraft offlimit conditions, anomalies and service interruptions Ensure Customer satisfaction in line with SLA terms and maximize satellite fleet availability and longevity Support procedure development of payload mission of the current and upcoming satellites. Ensure lessons learned are applied Develop and maintain new integrated payload applications and tools required for performance monitoring, operation automation, resource optimization and constellation performance Act as Payload expert for other people in SES Group and to satellite users pertaining to satellite performance, support endtoend design solutions, and understand endtoend communications link budgets and infrastructure Support and prepare for spacecraft anomalies and contingency operations, including new operational solutions, for contingency operations at spacecraft and fleet level Support Payload mission, operations and phasing of the satellites into constellation Support Payload IOT, transition and phasing for Start of Service Support the design and procurement of new satellites, for spacecraft design reviews, integration, ground and inorbit testing Develop training material and provide technical training to internal Customers COMPETENCIES Have strong analytical and problemsolving skills Have a strong sense of initiative and a selfstarter attitude Ability to adapt to fastpaced or custom situations with innovative and effective solutions Ability to develop autonomously new methods, applications meeting new business requirements Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff Have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and teamspirit Be willing to integrate into an international environment QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Required Bachelors degree and 36 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or similar field a combination of education and experience will be considered Experience in satellite payload subsystems, including the management all the equipment on board of the spacecraft that is required for proper transmission of the customer signal Experience with analytical programming languages such as Python, visual Basic, Matlab, andor Web Dev Experience in Radio Frequency telecommunications Ability work oncall Preferred Masters degree Experience with digital payload technology andor operations Experience with satellite operations or satellite constellation operations for LEOMEO Experience with web development programing languages Experience with data retrieval, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence SES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
