Belgacom launches new branding under Proximus name
2014-09-26 12:05:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Belgacom has confirmed the adoption of its mobile brand Proximus for all its services, including on the fixed market. The new CEO Dominique Leroy first announced in March plans to replace the state-owned operator's name with a new branding. The company's new tagline will be 'Proximus, Always close' ('Proximus, Altijd dichtbij' in Dutch and 'Proximus, Infiniment proche' in French). The name Proximus in purple will feature a blue 'x' in the middle, referring back to Belgacom's colours, and appearing similar to a hastag. Belgacom said this symbolises the convergence of fixed and mobile, as well as residential and business services. The new branding will be rolled out gradually from 29 September. This will include an update of the TV service user interface in a few weeks. Belgacom Group will remain the legal name of the company.

Belgacom to adopt Proximus brand for fixed services
2014-03-10 16:35:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Belgacom's new CEO Dominique Leroy has announced plans to adopt the company's mobile brand Proximus across all its services. By the end of the year, mobile, fixed and IT services will all use the Proximus brand. Leroy said in a presentation to staff that the move will simplify the company's communication and reinforce the idea of putting the customer centre. "The name Proximus reflects the ambition of being as close to customers as possible. It literally means 'the closest'," the CEO said in a statement. The single brand also underlines the growing convergence of services, which for customers are increasingly provided over multiple networks, regardless of the underlying technology. The operator will continue to use Belgacom as its corporate name, and the sub-brands Scarlet, 1207/1307, BICS, Tango and Telindus International will also continue to exist.
