The first concerned trans-Atlantic traffic which took a big hit last month, dropping 3.1 percent year over year, even as United was also busy cutting capacity across the pond. It seems trans-Atlantic travel may be losing some of its appeal, perhaps because of the general stress involved with travel nowadays - stress that can be even worse on long-haul flights.

Rogers sees drop in customer info requests from police, security agencies

Rogers Communications says it saw a sharp drop in the number of requests for customer information from government and police agencies last year - a result of swelling public concern and a landmark court ruling on telecommunications privacy. In a report released today, Rogers says it received fewer than 114,000 such requests for subscriber information in 2014, down from almost 175,000 the previous year.

Co-op back in profit; sees dividend after 2017

Co-operative Group Ltd. Thursday posted a return to profit as it gained from disposals and said it expects to begin dividend payments after 2017. The mutually-owned conglomerate, whose operations include supermarkets, banking and funeral homes recorded net profit of 216 million pounds during the 52 weeks ended January 3, compared with loss of GBP2.3 billion a year earlier.
