Agrium Inc. has reported a 48 per cent year-over-year decline in fourth-quarter profits as overall sales fell six per cent, mainly as a result of downtime at its Vanscoy potash facility and Redwater nitrogen plant. The Calgary-based fertilizer producer and marketer says fourth-quarter net earnings were US$51 million or 33 cents per share, down from US$99 million or 66 cents in the same 2013 period.

In 2012, General Mills laid off around 850 employees under its 'Project Refuel' restructuring program, around half of which were from its Twin Cities plant in Minneapolis.
