Instrument Team Management Support in the LEO Division mf

LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of Instrument Team Management Support in the LEO Division for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The EUMETSAT Polar System EPS is a major programme in the LEO Division. Within the EPS, the Metop satellites embark a series of meteorological instruments and other payload items either as EUMETSAT provisions to a joint EUMETSATESA team, and ultimately to the Metop Prime Contractor as customer furnished items CFIs or joint EUMESA provisions. In the current phase of the EPS Programme where the development is completed and all instruments have already been delivered to the Metop satellites, even if due to some anomalies or failures some instruments are still in rework or repair the role of the LEO Instrument Team is twofold Responsible for the provision of the CFI instruments and associated deliverables, monitoring of functioning and performance of all instruments during AIT for the MetopC satellite, followup of any anomaly and of the associated corrective actions, support to launch and commissioning until the formal handover to the Operations Department in EUMETSAT. Support to routine operations for the MetopA and B satellites. In addition, the LEO Instrument Team is currently supporting the preparatory activities for the PostEPS Programme and is also expected to be involved in the other programmes within the LEO Division. The tasks include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following Provision of support to the Instrument Team Leader and his Deputy in management related aspects. Support and participation to instrument and satellite reviews, e.g. Flight Acceptance Reviews, generation of RIDs. Ensure the technical coordination of the Metop instruments in support to the EPS Project Manager and liaise as needed with EUMETSAT Partners ESA NOAA NASA CNES Support the EPS Project Manager for the MHS FM4 followon. Support instrument related storagedestorage activities, reactivation and re calibration campaigns. Support the investigations and corrective actions related to anomalies occurring on Metop instruments on ground or in orbit. Support preparation of launch campaigns, Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP activities and satellite commissioning. Support to the generation and maintenance of instrument related documents. Support to the preparation and maintenance of presentation material related to instruments. Support to the control of the baseline definition of each instrument including evaluation of Change Requests, Change Proposals, Requests for Waiver Deviation, Interface Control Documents etc.. Critical analysis of instrument related schedules of satellite activities. Monitoring of deliverables to and from EUMETSATs partner agencies and industry. Maintenance of an instrument issues tracker. Tracking of actions on instrument related issues and support to close out of such actions. Drafting correspondence to EUMETSATs partner agencies and industry. Participation to meetings with partner agencies, contractors, internal, etc. as appropriate. Support also as requested the EPS Second Generation Programme for the instruments aspects. Qualifications Experience Required Experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with the minimum of supervision. Proven background in space hardware projects and project management positions preferably in the area of remote sensing instruments. Knowledge of QA processes and procedures. Good computing skills with a familiarity with Microsoft Office software Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Access, etc.. Good interpersonal skills. Experience of working on a collaborative programme between different partners. Academic and work related requirements A University degree in an engineering discipline is required. Perfect command of English, verbal and written. Knowledge of French would be an asset. Location of workEUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. Benefits A permanent employment contract.
