This article is the third and final part of a series that details common RF instrument specifications. Understanding RF Instrument Specifications Part 1 examines generic RF specifications that apply to all RF instruments. Understanding RF Instrument Specifications Part 2 covers specifications that are significant to RF continuous wave and vector signal generators. This final article focuses on specifications that apply to RF signal analyzers. Because there are two major types of RF signal analyzers, vector signal analyzers and spectrum analyzers, we first explain the distinctions between both instruments. Then we provide an introduction to specifications that apply specifically to spectrum measurements that include dynamic range, averaging methods, and displayed average noise floor.

We are looking to further enhance our team by adding Instrument Data Processing Algorithms Software Engineering Support You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. In addition, the consultant may also support development activities of the MTG and EPSSG Programmes. Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Typically, the tasks of the Consultant will include MSG Operations Support Developing an expert knowledge of the MSG Image Processing System. Investigating anomalies in the MSG Image Processing System. Specifying modifications to the MSG Image Processing System. Implementing modifications to the MSG Image Processing System. Verifying and validating modifications to the MSG Image Processing System. Updating the design and user documentation for the MSG Image Processing System. MTG Development Support Reviewing, analysing and anomaly investigation of MTG instrument data processing software from procurements. Supporting the integration, verification and validation of MTG instrument data processing deliveries. Supporting the development of a MTG reference processor at Client premises. Prototyping selected instrument data processing algorithms. EPSSG Development Support. Reviewing, analysing and anomaly investigation of EPSSG instrument data processing software from procurements. Supporting the integration, verification and validation of EPSSG instrument data processing deliveries. Prototyping selected instrument data processing algorithms. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as aerospace engineering, physics or remote sensing, the Consultant shall have strong mathematical skills and at least three years recent experience in Implementation of numerical algorithms, ideally in an imageprocessing context. Objectoriented system design. C programming. UNIX. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images. Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images. Performance optimisation of algorithms. IDL or MATLAB. Integration, verification, and validation of realtime data processing systems. Familiarity with ECSS standards, in particular those related to software development. The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Good communication, presentation and listening skills are an advantage. Fluency in English is mandatory together with good communication skills.
