Woodside Petroleum would invest in Asian infrastructure to lift LNG sales

Woodside will supply LNG to Indonesian state-owned oil major Pertamina from various sources, including its Pluto plant in Western Australia. Woodside Petroleum would consider investing in gas power plants, storage plants and import-receiving terminals to help stimulate demand for its LNG in emerging markets in Asia, adopting a strategy followed by much larger integrated energy producers such as Shell and Total.

Sovereign fund China Investment Corp., Malakoff Corp. and Ormat Technologies Inc. are among companies weighing bids for Chevron Corp.'s Asian geothermal assets, which could fetch as much as $3 billion, people with knowledge of the matter said. Philippine geothermal energy producers Energy Development Corp. and Aboitiz Power Corp. and Japanese trading house Marubeni Corp. are also weighing offers for the assets, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information is private.
