(Telecompaper) The European telecoms marktet was particularly eventful in week 19, but a downturn couldn't be prevented against the backdrop of an overall market downturn. The Telecompaper Stock Index (TPSI) European Telecoms Services was down 1.2 percent, against a 4.0 percent loss for the EuroStoxx 50 index. Iliad was the winner, on the sale of much of its tower portfolio, followed closely by its counterpart Cellnex, with a string of deals in its pocket. Tele Columbus was the week's biggest loser, without significant news, losing 11 percent, followed by BT.

Deutsche Telekom reports underlying revenues up 3.5% in Q1

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom reported first-quarter revenues up 8.7 percent to EUR 19.5 billion, driven by acquisitions in Austria and the Netherlands and continued growth at T-Mobile US. Adjusted EBITDA after leases, which excludes the impact of new accounting rules, rose 8.3 percent to EUR 5.9 billion, and free cash flow on the same basis increased 18.1 percent to EUR 1.6 billion.

Deutsche Telekom MagentaTV subscribers up 66,000 in 1Q 2019

Deutsche Telekom has released results for the first quarter of 2019. In Germany, 66,000 new MagentaTV customers were recorded in the quarter, taking the total number to 3.4 million, an increase of 7.1 percent compared with March 2018.

T-Mobile Austria rebrands to Magenta Telekom after merger with UPC Austria

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Austria has rebranded to Magenta Telekom after the mobile operator's merger with UPC Austria. The company will provide services under the single brand name Magenta T going forward.

T-Mobile Austria and UPC Austria have merged to form Magenta Telekom. The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary will market its services under the Magenta retail brand, while retaining the T logo as its corporate brand.
