Position Reference 962 We are currently looking for a StorageData Protection and Database Administrator to work at EUMETSAT premises in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. The key person will provide technical expertise to the Generic Infrastructure and Systems Division GSI, which is part of the Technical and Scientific Support Department TSS and takes care of the maintenance and further development of the complete operational ground segment computer infrastructure. This infrastructure includes computers, Storage Area Networks, local network equipment, widearea networks and all the software that is needed to run EUMETSATs satellites missions. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Designing and implementing storage, data protection and database solutions. Designing and implementing SAN, NAS and Object storage solutions including requirements analysis, system design, actual implementation, verification and validation testing Designing and implementing data protection, backup and archive solutions including requirements analysis, system design, actual implementation, verification, and validation testing Designing and implementing database solutions, including requirements analysis, system design, actual implementation, verification, and validation testing supporting software developers in the area of databases. Interface to COTS support and maintenance providers. Routine Storage, Data Protection and Database Administration Service Routine provisioning on storage, data protection and database systems. e.g. LUN mapping, sharebucket creation, backup scheduling, userschema creation, etc. Monitoring of the storage, data protection systems and databases initial investigations of the detected HW, SW and performance issues Archive and data protection systems tape handling Act as a single point of contact on all CSM matters of the Operational systems Participation in the daily Mission Operations coordination meetings Participation in the regular anomaly review boards. Standard administrative tasks adding or removing users, file system maintenance etc. based on procedures Backup and Restore Tasks based on procedures. Preventive Storage, Data Protection and Database Administration Service Analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations on storage, data protection and database taking care of compatibility issues among computer, storage and database subsystems Installation and configuration of storage, data protection and database solutions, tuning of storage, data protection and database parameters to optimize performance Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities Generation or update of technical documentation in relation to storage, data protection and database upgrades Correction of the detected storage, data protection, database and performance issues related to HW or SW. Corrective Storage, Data Protection and Database Administration Service Ensuring that in case of storage, data protection, database failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures Liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Support to HW integration, SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources SOW4154 provision of standbyoncall support. IT Engineering Service Architectural design of new systems and reengineering of the existing systems Troubleshooting and resolution of the complex anomalies and outages Coordination of the activities with the counterpart from different teams Create and maintain relevant set of the documentation and maintenance procedures. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant discipline. Highlevel expertise on data infrastructure storage, data protection, archive and database systems management principles. Expert knowledge and experience in using DellEMC, HitachiVantara, NetApp and Brocade model SAN, NAS and Object storage solutions. Proven handson experience in administering SAN storage highavailability implementations e.g. DellEMC SRDFMetro, HitachiVantara GlobalActiveDevice, NetApp MetroCluster Proven handon experience in administering NAS and Object highavailability implementations e.g. geographical replication, multisite federation Expert knowledge and experience in using Veritas NetBackup, Oracle HSM, IBM TSM, Versity and Rubrik data protection and archive solutions. Expert knowledge and experience in using OracleStorageTEK and IBM tape infrastructure solutions. Expert knowledge and experience in using Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB databases. Proven handson experience in administering database resilience solutions e.g. Oracle RACData GuardRMAN, PostgreSQL Hot Standby, MySQL Enterprise Backup etc. Experience in a largescale operational or production environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard HW and SW, along with 24x7 high availability requirement. Significant IT system design skills. Good understanding of ITIL Change and Configuration Management processes Good understanding of ITIL Incident and Problem Management processes Good working experience on Linux and Unix operating systems Good knowledge and experience in security principlesconcepts, hardening techniques, secure architecture and protocols, penetration and vulnerability testing, tools Technical documentation skills Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
