Job description We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with strong competencies in related technologies, to join our team of IT systems engineers working at our customer, EUMETSAT, site in Darmstadt, Germany. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting database infrastructure design, maintenance, automation, optimization and implementation of new and existing Oracle11g and Postgres databases. Responsibilities Your tasks will include the following Oracle 11g database installation and support Postgres database installation and support Oracle to Postgres databases migration Database design and planning for the new applications Database performance monitoring and enhancements Maintenance of the relevant documentation This is a full time position, located at our customers in Darmstadt, Germany, starting as soon as possible. Qualifications Competencies You have a university degree in Computer Science or other relevant subject, and demonstrable experience in the required competencies. Essential competencies More than 5 years of relevant experience in the field with focus on corporate systems More than 3 years of Postgres SQL and Oracle database administration More than 3 years of GNULinux andor AIX experience in a business environment Desirable competencies PostgreSQL to Oracle and Oracle to Postgres migration experience In addition, you should have the following characteristics Good written and verbal communication and team working skills Able to work in an organized, systematic and disciplined manner, in particular in relation to applying engineering standards and methods Enthusiastic, selfmotivated, team player, able to work independently The working language is English. EUMETSAT is now developing the next generation of satellite systems, shaping its longterm future. We have an internalfacing role for a SAP System Administrator and Technical Coordinator, working within our ICT division, to provide a SAP system administration service and coordinate system maintenance activities ensuring the smooth running of all of our services. Working in an environment where hosting is outsourced, you would be required to work collaboratively with other SAP functional experts, ICT teams, external hosting developers and SAP Application developers to ensure our technical requirements become a reality. Your main responsibilities will include administering the SAP System environment during its life cycle and coordinating the activities of the contractor to ensure the service is delivered in line with service level agreements. Additionally you will plan and coordinate SAP system maintenance activities, including IT security, integration with EUMETSAT IT Systems and SAP Support, and Enhancement Pack implementation, briefing and managing all parties involved. You will provide technical support to SAP Functional specialists in the complete development life cycle, including incident management. Along with a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline you should have expert experience in SAP and be able to demonstrate the following experience and knowledge in SAP ERP System Administration, Business Intelligence BI and Portal Systems practical experience in planning and coordinating SAP system maintenance activities in an externallyhosted SAP environment technical skills in supporting SAP functionality implementations, Support and Enhancement Pack upgrades, and other related life cycle activities an ability to prioritise, plan, solve problems and consistently meet deadlines excellent communication skills and demonstrated capability to negotiate, resolve conflicts and work cooperatively within a team knowledge of incident and change management fundamentals and principles, preferably according to ITIL Standard for Service Management a basic knowledge of network technologies, operating systems and supporting datacenter infrastructure. Some exposure to SAP Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery activities, understanding and experience in SAP Security Implementations and implementation, and operational experience of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 would be seen as beneficial.
