UK clothing imports have sharply increased in volume terms in the first half, whereas more moderately rising in pound terms and even stagnating in dollar terms. UK buyers have heavily pressured prices in the last years, but could find it difficult to get the same result after the Brexit vote and the sharp decline of the UK currency. Latest trends are reflected by our comprehensive review of 1st half data per origin, from 2011-16. A large number of statistical tables are published, with volume, value and unit value changes released in both pound and US$ terms. The full table is also available for download.

Polyester staple fiber prices have not moved in September in China, India and Pakistan, having actually stabilized for months. Gross margins have however risen in the last months at spinning mills. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

European apparel imports have recovered in the second quarter this year, even surging on eastern European markets, whereas US imports were more clearly falling. Other markets are further emerging outside Europe and the United States, as reflected by our 4-year data. Our report provides a comprehensive view of global apparel import data from 1st half 2012, per final market. Data include apparel imports in dollar terms, growth rates, and percentage change over the 2012-2016 period, covering the two first quarters and the first half. All data can be easily downloaded through our csv files.
Minimum Wages in Apparel Manufacturing Countries (Statistical Report)

Minimum wages have remained stable since the start of the year, but they are already expected to be raised in Vietnam and Cambodia, as of January 1st next year. Workers of most low-cost countries do not actually receive a minimum wage, according to a recent study by the I.L.O. whereas buyers could now check the effective level of living wages. Our report displays minimum wages in a large number of apparel manufacturing countries, with latest data updated as of October 1st in US$ terms, compared with January 2015 and January 2014. Minimum wages in local currency units are also released for most countries.
