Industry Asks for Extend Duties on Paper Imports

October 2, 2015 - Verso Corp., Sappi North America and Appleton Coated, together with the United Steelworkers , have called for an extension of duties on imports of coated paper from China and Indonesia that were previously determined to have threatened material injury to U.S. producers and workers. Duties resulting from this determination are periodically reassessed under what are known as "sunset reviews."

Overall trends of US apparel imports in the first half actually hide widely different results depending on product categories. China has retreated in certain categories, however resisting in others. Vietnam has further emerged as a future leader, however receding market shares in a few categories. Bangladesh is only favored for a small number of products, as reflected by our series of tables offering a detailed view of US imports per origin and for major cotton and man-made fiber categories.
