Backupify opens up its cloud-to-cloud backup to more SaaS vendors
2013-10-07 23:45:03| InfoWorld: Top News
Backupify, a cloud-based backup service offered for SaaS platforms including Salesforce and Google Apps, may expand to many other SaaS platforms through a developer kit designed for quick and easy integration. Backupify's proposition is that two clouds are better than one. Its service, available in the app stores for Salesforce and Google Apps, backs up enterprises' data from those SaaS (software as a service) platforms in Backupify's storage bucket on Amazon S3. Each enterprise's data there is encrypted with a customer-specific key.

China Mobile picks 9 vendors for 4G network rollout
2013-10-02 01:51:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) China Mobile has awarded nine contracts for the rollout of a 4G mobile network, with most going to domestic telecommunications equipment makers. Meanwhile, Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) have also secured contracts. Alcatel-Lucent said it had picked up about 11 percent of China Mobile's plan to build more than 207,000 TD-LTE base stations in China by the end of the year as part of its Phase I 4G network. The Financial Times reports that NSN and Ericsson won a similar share of the work as Alcatel-Lucent. China Mobile also selected six domestic vendors: Huawei, ZTE, Datang Mobile, FibreHome Technologies, Potevio, and New Postcom Equipment Company. An unnamed source told the paper that ZTE and Huawei won the lion's share of the contracts.
