North America mobile industry starts 6G work with Next G Alliance

(Telecompaper) The mobile industry in North America is getting going with 6G development. The industry standards group ATIS announced the launch of the Next G Alliance, with the founding members AT&T, Bell Canada, Ciena, Ericsson, Facebook, InterDigital, JMA Wireless, Microsoft, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Telus, Telnyx, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon.

(Telecompaper) Swiss mobile payment service provider Twint announced the formation of the European Mobile Payment Systems Association (EMPSA), which will be based in Zurich. The other members are the nationally launched payment systems of Belgium (Bancontact Payconiq Company), Germany/Austria (Bluecode), Finland/Denmark (MobilePay), Portugal (SIBS/MB Way), Sweden (Swish) and Norway (Vipps).

GSMA unveils mobile industry cloud AR/VR initiative

(Telecompaper) Industry group GSMA has launched new initiative to focus on the development of cloud virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology. The programme, called the GSMA Cloud AR/VR Forum, was unveiled at Huawei's 9th Global Mobile Broadband Forum in London and is backed by mobile operators including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, KT, NTT Docomo, SK Telecom, Telefonica, Telenor, TIM, Turkcell and Vodafone, as well as other industry partners including Huawei and HTC.
