We are currently looking for a Space Incubation Coordinator to be based in Noordwijk ESTEC, where you will be responsible for the implementation of BIC activities. The Business Application and Space Solutions Department of ESA implements the Space Solutions Programme S2. This ESA S2 programme operates two main production lines 1. Application Projects Business Applications 2. Business Incubation Centres BIC. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support member states ESA S2 portfolio Daytoday contact with ESA S2 contractors supplierindustry. Support the preparation of the ESA Space Solutions procurement proposals. Monitor progress of ESA S2 startups and reporting. Provide support for activities promotion, training, ... taking place in the Member States. Coordinate with other stakeholders, internal and external to ESA. Support expert meetings, particularly selection campaigns meetings with local ESA S2 entities and partners. Assess highly innovative projects, particularly in terms of business plan assessment and assessment of the technical and operational requirements applicable to space derived technologies and applications and their integration in terrestrial products and services. Ensure timely internal and external reporting by ESA S2 entities and support where needed. Particularly maintaining a Microsoft Sharepointbased reporting system. Attraction and evaluation of project proposals Support ESA S2 contractors in the identification and characterisation of new products and services exploiting current and next generation of space technologies e.g. materials, sensors, robotics, software, etc and satellite systems e.g. Satcom, Earth Observation and Satellite Navigation and their integration in nonspace domains. Update the TIA Quality Manual with the new processes. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Significant experience in management of technology and innovation. Sound knowledge of the overall space applications market, and specific experience in specifying, developing, evaluating and promoting applications making use of technologies transferred from the space domain and the utilisation satellite systems. Sound knowledge of downstream space services and applications and with relevant space technologies i.e. satellite communications, navigation and earth observation. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Excellent analytical skills. High standard of document drafting. Ability to work with software reporting tools particularly Microsoft Sharepoint, as well as some familiarity to add features in these reporting tools. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. You will have the opportunity to coordinate the European Space Education Resource Office ESERO network for the primary and secondary education communities in ESAs Member States, both from the project coordination and scientific education points of view. You have experience in international environments, project management, active STEM teaching and communication. You have the capability of establishing and maintaining high level interfaces within and outside the Agency. You are autonomous in the execution of tasks and able to manage your workload, identify priorities and strategic actions able to cope with pressure, meet deadlines and deliver on time. DUTIES The postholder will report to the SSA Programme Space Weather Manager SWM and will support him in the overall development, implementation and coordination of the space weather services in the SSA Space Weather Segment. Specific duties will include supporting the SWM in defining and maintaining the requirements for the space weather services and products and the space weather service development roadmaps supporting the SWM in planning and implementing the SSA Space Weather Segment system including the federated Expert Service Centres, Data Centres and other system elements monitoring the implementation, testing and validation of the space weather applications, tools and services supporting the overall implementation of the SSA Space Weather Segment utilising the data from spaceborne and groundbased observation systems and providing space weather services to the end users under the supervision of the SWM, interfacing with the teams in other ESA directorates for the implementation of the space weather services and technology development activities e.g. feasibility studies, space weather modelling, participating in project, system and mission reviews and evaluations of procurement packages as required. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in space physics, space weather or solar physics, and significant working experience with space weatherrelated topics. This experience should include practical experience in setting up space weather services as minimum precursor services in more than one space weather service domains and testing and validating the services in collaboration with the end users. Experience from working in several space weather service domains and with endtoend system design and development would be an asset. Candidates should also have extensive experience in managing international industry contracts and in communicating with international partners including space agencies, international entities and the scientific community. Experience in explaining and lecturing space weatherrelated topics to the academic community, students and general public will be an asset. Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines.
