Source: The United States Department of Agriculture Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently announced that the United States Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will make $6 million in grants available this year, and up to $30 million total over the next five years as a part of a new initiative that helps provide solutions to agricultural water challenges. The grants will be used to develop management practices, as well as technologies and tools for farmers, ranchers, forest owners and citizens to improve water resource quantity and quality. read more

USDA Extends Comment Period On Brazilian Beef Imports

Comments on the proposal have been extended to April 22, 2014 Last December, USDA published a proposed rule to allow beef imports from select states in Brazil. While the original comment period ended Feb. 21, USDA extended the comment period for another two months. So far, comments on the proposal are strongly against USDAs plan to allow fresh beef from Brazil into the U.S. read more
