Interesting USDA Reports for June 2013

The late June USDA Acreage and Grain Stocks Report is always highly anticipated because it becomes the first hard data after the March USDA Plantings Intentions Report to give an indication of crop production levels in a given growing season, as of June 1. July 2 USDA Weekly Weather Update

Source: USDA Favorably drier weather arrived across the Upper Midwest, easing residual lowland flooding and allowing wet fields to begin drying. In contrast, heavy showers continued from the central and eastern Corn Belt into the Northeast, where weekly rainfall totals of 2-4 in. or more were common. Locally heavy showers also dotted the Southeast, primarily from the Appalachians eastward. The Midwestern and Eastern rain limited fieldwork, including soft red winter wheat harvesting, but maintained abundant moisture reserves for pastures and summer crops. read more

BIO Welcomes Reopening of USDA BioPreferred Product Certification and Labeling

BIO thanked Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for reopening the BioPreferred Bioproduct Certification and Labeling program and resuming the processing of applications.
