Private label foods company TreeHouse could pay more than $2.5 billion to acquire ConAgra's Ralcorp private label business, according to a Reuters report. ConAgra, which bought Ralcorp for more than double that amount two years ago, signaled its intentions to leave the store-brand product market earlier this year amid costly integration procedures and slim profit margins.

With rumors swirling that Kellogg is eyeing up Diamond Foods, news of another potential megadeal also hit the wires this week, with ConAgra Foods reportedly in advanced talks to sell its private label business Ralcorp to Treehouse Foods in a deal that could be valued between $2.5bn and $2.7 bn. Citing " people familiar with the matter ", Reuters reported that after considering alternatives, such as selling Ralcorp to a private equity firm or breaking it up, ConAgra is now engaged in negotiations with TreeHouse in an effort to finalize a deal.

Not long before wrecking balls leveled the nearly two dozen warehouses that made up historic Jobbers Canyon, Roberta Vana recalls walking through the downtown neighborhood near her office that for a century had been crowded with workers unloading freight trains packed with equipment, food and furniture for sale across the upper Midwest. "It really was like being in a canyon," she said of the towering brick buildings, which captured the aura of Omaha's role as major transportation hub in the late 1800s.
