Metal stamping company faces fine over injury

A Liverpool Township metal stamping company is facing $49,000 in proposed penalties from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration after an employee of a Lorain County plant lost three fingers in a press. The investigation into Shiloh Industries' Wellington Stamping Division determined the employee's injury could have been prevented and found that the company did not train the worker on safely operating the mechanical press, which also lacked adequate safety mechanisms, according to a report.
