For our team onsite EUMETSAT, we are looking for a Scientific Software Developer to support the development of the Lightning Imager Statistics Report offline tool LISTAR. This position is based at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt. It is fulltime and permanent and expected starting date will be around April 2020. We are looking forward to meeting you! ResponsibilitiesDuties Your principal task will be the continuous development of LISTAR in strong cooperation with our team and EUMETSAT engineers. A large variety of different routines for performance assessments, statistics, plotting, and reporting are keen on being developed and implemented by you! QualificationsExperience What are we looking for? Maybe for you, with at least 2 years of experience in satellite instruments with a proven focus on Satellite instrument characteristics for earth observation visiblenearinfrared range of the spectrum Scientific instrument data simulation and processing Of course, you are easily understanding the relating physics processes in such satellite instruments. Essential Skills You are daily working with Python in a LinuxUnix environment and the latest software development tools and methods are your daily business. We dont have to tell you about NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Panda, and other libraries. You have already gained a lot of experience with representing scientific data for Earth Observation application with Python. Teamwork and ones own initiative is what you enjoy Capable of working both individually and independently on assigned responsibilities, while you are part of the system team. We are of course looking for good interpersonal and communication skills! NonEssential Skills Ideally, you are already familiar with Django webservers and you have touched rational databases in the past already. We also rely on Jupyter Notebooks to improve the usability of the LISTAR tool. Essential Skills You are daily working with CC in a LinuxUnix environment and the latest software development tools and methods are your daily business. You have already gained a lot of experience with prototyping and plotting tools such as IDL and python and software build environments and tools make, imake are no loanword.
