Omantel aims for small cell power

Much of the mobile data traffic growth will be indoors, underscoring the importance of small cell technologies in service provider mobile strategies, says Iyad Alchammat, general manager, Cisco Oman Muscat: Omantel has launched a trial project that supports its growing base of customers by deploying Cisco Universal Small Cell Solutions into its mobile network, said a top official of Cisco Oman. Speaking to the Times of Oman, Iyad Alchammat, general manager, Cisco Oman, said that this trial enables "five bars everywhere" coverage for Omantel customers using voice and data services on mobile broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
