After weeks of being plugged into the Volkswagen emissions scandal, more than half of UK motorists say they plan to be driving an electric or hybrid car next. Some 53 per cent of drivers surveyed by the Institute of the Motor Industry who plan to buy or lease a car in the next two years said they are considering getting behind the wheel of an electric or hybrid vehicle.

The trucking industry will need to hire 890,000 drivers over the next decade to meet future demand, according to a new study by the American Trucking Associations . There are about 1.6 million tractor-trailers on the road today driven by professional drivers, according to the ATA.
