Huawei smartphone sales up 39% in H1

(Telecompaper) Huawei Technologies increased its smartphone sales 39 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2015 to 48.2 million phones. Shipments of mid- and high-end devices surged 70 percent and accounted for 31 percent of total handset shipments and 42.9 percent of total revenue from mobile devices. Huawei said revenue in its consumer business group rose 69 percent to USD 9.09 billion in the first half, accounting for almost a third of the company's total sales. Of the total, handset revenue climbed 87 percent to USD 7.23 billion. Huawei earlier reported that its total sales for the first six months of 2015 increased 30 percent to CNY 175.9 billion (USD 28.3 billion).

ZTE net profit increases 43% in H1

(Telecompaper) ZTE said it expects to report a 43 percent increase in net profit for the first half of 2015 to CNY 1.61 billion (USD 260 million), thanks to strong sales of LTE network systems. The preliminary results show operating revenue up 21.9 percent year-on-year to CNY 45.94 billion, and the operating result moved to a profit of CNY 66.28 million from a loss of CNY 210.05 million a year ago. ZTE said it saw higher sales in the first half from FDD LTE equipment, as well as wireline switch and access systems, mainly in its home market China. In addition, contract profitability improved in the period. Revenue in the Enterprise and Government ICT Solutions division also increased, driven by new smart city deployments and higher sales to rail operators. The company will give a full interim earnings report 26 August.
Telekom Austria lowers FY outlook after flat H1

(Telecompaper) Telekom Austria Group lowered its outlook for full-year revenues to flat versus 2014, due to weak economic conditions in its eastern European markets and negative currency effects, especially in Belarus. The company previously expected an around 2 percent increase in annual revenues, but over the first six months of 2015, revenues were flat year-on-year at EUR 1.94 billion. The company said its efforts at cost reductions to offset the weaker revenues had been successful so far, helping EBITDA in the first half rise 7.4 percent to EUR 665 million. Net profit improved to EUR 171 million from a loss of EUR 264 million a year ago when it took an impairment charge for Belarus. Operating cash flow was up 43 percent to EUR 535 million, as capital expenditure declined 16.7 percent to EUR 274 million. Telekom Austria maintained its outlook for full-year capex of EUR 700-750 million and a dividend of 5 cents a share.
