The successful candidate will join one of the largest space systems groups in Europe under the guidance of Professor Vaios Lappas. One of SSCs projects is RemoveDebris, expected to demonstrate the first successful capture of debris in space utilising a net and harpoon. The Research Fellow is expected to additionally work on other related ESA, EU and industrially funded space projects. This 12 month post ideally requires somebody with 3 years experience in CubeSat microsatellite bussubsystem design. The candidate will have good knowledge of ADCS AOCS, communication systems, EPS power systems, solar panels, OBCs, thermal systems, systems integration and ideally will have worked on an active satellite mission in this capacity. In addition, the candidate will have knowledge of procurement, manufacture, experimental setup, testing and some knowledge on assembly, integration, testing AIT.

Research Fellow Electric Propulsion Salary up to 30,728 per annum Subject to experience and qualifications The Surrey Space Centre is currently working on systems design and simulation of micro electric thrusters as part of its research effort in space vehicle control and space propulsion. The 12 month project, entails the design, simulation and experimental testing of a new micro electric thruster. Although the work will be focused on the above areas the Research Fellow is expected to work on related projects on space vehicle control and space propulsion for other ESA and EPSRC funded projects. Knowledge of plasma physics, electric propulsion systems, experimental testing, mathematical modelling and programming MATLAB and C with some experience is required.
