(Telecompaper) 3 Group reported improved results over the first half of 2013, including its first positive operating cash flow (EBITDA minus capex). Revenues were up 8 percent from a year earlier to HKD 30.10 billion, helped by the takeover of Orange Austria, and EBITDA grew 38 percent to HKD 5.66 billion. EBIT rose 35 percent to HKD 1.85 billion. 3 finished June with a total 25.6 million customers (21.0 million active), an increase of 9 percent over the six months. Postpaid net additions more than doubled from a year earlier to 1.969 million in the first half, giving a total postpaid base of 15.1 million at the end of June. ARPU was down 6 percent from the previous six months to EUR 22.40, of which 47 percent came from non-voice services. Parent company Hutchison Whampoa said the group will continue to focus on increasing market share and operating efficiency, as well as moving away from subsidised handsets.
