This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES The post holder will report to the Head of the Antenna and SubMillimetre Waves Section of the Electromagnetics and Space Environment Division. Within the Electromagnetics and Space Environment Division, the Antenna and SubMillimetre Waves Section carries out project support and technological research tasks in the area of space antenna systems and submillimetre wave instruments. This includes antenna, payload and instrument radiative performance testing. The frequency domain covers the 100 MHz to 1 THz range. Within the technical domains described above and under the direct responsibility of the Head of the Section, the incumbent will be assigned the role of Antenna Laboratory Coordinator for the internal and external antenna and RF material measurement facilities that fall under the responsibility of the Section. This role includes the following tasks handling all operational aspects and planning of the facilities contributing to the definition of the laboratory strategy, elaborating relevant infrastructure plans for the facilities and supporting their implementation coordinating the activities of the external ESA antenna laboratory in order to maximise synergies contributing to the identification of future needs in terms of RF radiative testing and supporting the ensuing evolution of the relevant facilities and testing hardware and software. Other tasks and responsibilities will include providing support to projects, programmes and general studies participating in project reviews, inhouse design and tradeoffs to support projectspecific technology development defining, initiating and monitoring antenna research and development activities covering long and shortterm needs fostering new application areas for multidisciplinary activities, placing emphasis on antenna testing innovative concepts, cuttingedge techniques and technologies and system architectures monitoring applicable antenna testing scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise with a focus on antenna testing contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and to the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering with a comprehensive background in antenna testing and material radiofrequency characterisation. Solid experience in near and far field test techniques as applied to aerospace programmes is required, as is experience in the coordination of RF testing facilities. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. Applicants should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
