This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Atmospheric Motion Vector Product Software Engineer 1613119 Job Description We are looking for an Atmospheric Motion Vector Product Software Engineer for our client EUMETSAT, in Darmstadt, Germany. You will be part of the Atmospheric and Imaging Applications AIA team in the group responsible for the scientific AMV product development and implementation. Your tasks will typically include Design and implementation of algorithm enhancements or improvements Software feasibility analyses of proposed new product algorithms, or major algorithm upgrades Development of tools in support of product monitoring and product analysis, for example as part of EPS PPF product validation testing Preparation of technical documents on product implementation issues Preparation of technical notes and reports as required Attendance at technical and RSPAIA team meetings as required The focus of these tasks will primarily be on the AMV products extracted from both geostationary and polar orbit systems however, there may tasks related to other products for which your tasks may be partially allocated. Required Skills and Experience A University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects Minimum of four years experience of processing satellite or meteorological data, specifically Proven experience in the design, implementation, and testing of complex scientific algorithm software Proven experience of software development in C, C and Fortran in a UNIX environment Proven experience in software development using data visualisation and analysis tools e.g. PYTHON, IDL Experience in configuration control of software and data Desirable Skills and Experience Sound knowledge and experience in the area of Atmospheric Motion Vectors extraction from satellite imagery, or experience with image processing algorithms in the area of feature identification and tracking, or experience with optical flow methods. Experience in operational data processing.
