This is a permanent position calling for strong C and mathematical skills. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years and should be available to start as soon as possible. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The role will focus on image navigation and registration processing for an operational satellite system and on preparations for a future system. In addition to strong skills in C and mathematics, at least five years experience of the following is required Objectoriented system design UNIX Implementation of numerical algorithms Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous Realtime image processing of large volumes of data Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images Performance optimisation of algorithms IDL or MATLAB Integration, verification, and validation of realtime data processing systems Familiarity with ECSS standards, in particular those related to software development Candidates must possess a University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
