Grace Schwartz Certain types of coal ash, such as fly ash and flue gas desulfurization (FGD) solids, are useful as raw materials in making concrete and dry wall. But a significant fraction of coal ash can be enriched with potentially toxic and bioaccumulative elements such as arsenic, selenium and mercury.
