Ambitious Space Company is looking for a Communication Software Engineer for our Virginia office Join the US team in a rapidly growing international satellite company! We are looking for a Communication Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development for advanced satellite platforms. You will have the opportunity to become part of an internationally oriented and dedicated team aiming at providing exceptional Nanosatellite solutions to customers on the global market. Position Summary The Communication Software engineer will have responsibility for doing simulations and system implementation for customer projects, as well as customer training, satellite operations and development of new RF communication capabilities. The successful candidate must be experienced in all aspects of software development including requirements definition, architecture development, design, implementation, integration, verification and validation. The position will be responsible for full product life cycle development from concept development to flight implementation and mission support. Interactions with external suppliers and customers will require the engineer to have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Responsibilities Software product lifecycle development and implementation of payload and downlink radios on the GomSpace platform, including maintenance and development of new RF communication capabilities Development and implementation of novel securebydesign protocols and algorithms for the GomSpace satellite communication stack especially for the ground satellite links Assist project teams and sales in spacecraft communications software development and implementation Working within a crossfunctional team to ensure successful verification of the modem and protocols including integration into nanosatellite and ground stations products Preparation of documentation according to applied space engineering standards Support additional embedded software applications on various spacecraft systems Required Qualifications 510 years of experience as a software engineer within embedded systems and communication protocols Familiar with embedded software, CC and Python programming Good understanding of modern digital hardware and architecture eg. Xilinx Zynq or Ultrascale Experience in communications protocol and signal processing software development and implementation Knowledge in protocol security and authentication mechanism and concepts Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university Given the nature of the work, applicant must be a US Person as defined by US ITAR and EAR regulations Desired Qualifications Experience with satellites, particularly nanosatellites andor communication satellites Experience in VHDL and Verilog designtools Expert level experience in embedded firmwaresoftwaredriver development on low power ARM based platforms Experience in modern digital communications standards eg.
