Configuration Management engineer Category Information Technology City Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom Position ID J04151554 Permanent Full Time Position Description The project requires a Configuration Management engineer to support the Configuration Management of deliveries to the Galileo Security Facility GSF. The role of the CM Engineer will report to the GSF Product Assurance Manager in tasks delegated by him for aspects related to Configuration Management, Quality, and deliveries as defined in the applicable documents and standards. The prime objective of Product Assurance is to ensure that products accomplish their defined mission objectives in a safe, available and reliable way. The aim is to provide the optimum level of support that is consistent with the requirements of the Galileo Software Standards GSWS. This is to be supported by the proactive involvement of the CM Engineer in the definition and implementation of the project CM specific processes and procedures in order to provide assurance that the development and maintenance teams maintain an orderly and disciplined approach to their work and the configuration of the products produced. Candidates should have a good eye for detail, whilst working to high standards of quality, and also to agreed timescales either independently or as part of a team. Additional objectives include to support the implementation and administration of configuration management activities across the project to ensure that the CM activities are planned, documented and controlled in such a manner that all contractual requirements are satisfied in an appropriate and costeffective manner to support GSF Project PA Manager in CM matters This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in the development of Galileo, Europes satellite navigation system. Your role on the GSF project will require you to work with senior members of the team which will provide an exciting insight into how large projects and programmes run, this is therefore an excellent opportunity for a junior PM. We will ensure that you are familiar with the appropriate procedures for handling classified material which you will need to follow. The Galileo Security Facility GSF is being developed throughout the FOC1 phase of the Galileo Programme providing management of the Public Regulated Services PRS to Member States and a Galileowide security event monitoring capability. The GSF is intended to provide an interface between EU member states and the Galileo core system for the management of the Galileo PRS service and Galileo Security Monitoring. Essential Skills An understanding of Configuration Management, Quality Control and Assurance. Quick learner with initiative and a practical approach to problem solving. An eye for detail with demonstrable analysis skills An appreciation of the design, software development and verification complexities of large programmes Experience of working to high standards. Experience of Waterfall project life cycles. Desirable Skills Experience in a secure environment working to precise procedures following a methodical approach. Previous knowledge of Galileo including the Galileo Software Standards. Auditing Staff will be based in the secure offices in Leatherhead and Security Clearance SC will be required so staff must already hold at least BS clearance and be clearable to SC. The programme is mainly Leatherhead based and you are expected to be on site 5 days a week. Some international travel eg FranceHollandGermany may be required on occasions.
