Copernicus Monitoring Applications Software Engineer 1613115 Job Description We are looking for an Applications Software Engineer for our client EUMETSAT. You will be part of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The team supports maintenance of the EUMETSAT CopernicusSentinel3 Mission Control Applications and MMEMon tools instantiation for Sentinel3 requirements specification, design, development implementation, integration and verification of extensions including future obsolesces reengineering of Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Support to users in investigation andor handling in the operational usage of the Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Provide MCAT with strong software technologies expertise in the area of web applications, including Maintenance and Evolution Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Engineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions as following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance of test plan and test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test plan and related test procedures at software level and at level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns which includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical Assessment and Review as a technical expert you will support the coordination, assessment and review process for engineering artefacts and technical documentation produced in the scope of maintenance activities. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure if specifically required operations continuity during critical periods by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. Required Skills and Experience A University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Significant knowledge and experience in the area of software applications requirements definition, design, implementation, verification and maintenance. Skills and experience in the following mandatory areas 1. Software Engineering Maintenance Skills Minimum 5 years experience in Experience in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes Experience in defining software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 247 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment Minimum 3 years experience in IVV integration, verification and validation activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. 2. Software Technologies Skills Minimum 3 years experience in designing and implementing backend software applications using Servlet containers e.g. Tomcat, JBoss and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies javascript, CSS, HTML and javascript frameworks designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. Minimum 2 years experience in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented Middleware and using ActiveMQ andor ZeroMQ as message brokers Travel overseas andor within Europe may be required for certain activities.
