EUMETSAT is Europes meteorological satellite agency monitoring the weather and climate from space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year We are currently looking for an experienced Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer, with experience of maintenance and operations of mediumsize data centres or similar infrastructure, to join our international team of inspiring engineers and industry professionals, tasked with driving innovation within the Space, Satellite and Earth Observation sector. This role is rooted in the mission of EUMETSAT and will provide the opportunity to work with leading IT, Space and Earth Observation organisations and domain experts to make a positive impact on society! The Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the engineering, maintenance and evolutions of the complex physical infrastructure distributed across the EUMETSAT headquarters site and used for hosting IT equipment and ground systems supporting the operations of current satellite systems and the deployment of new satellite systems. Duties Engineering and maintenance of existing operational infrastructure and management of the evolutions that are necessary for upgrading multimission ground systems as required for the deployment of new satellite systems Contribution to the preparation of the infrastructure necessary to accommodatehost new ground systems, including definition of system requirements for physical infrastructure e.g. rack layout, power and cooling, infrastructure interfaces and applicable standards for the physical installation of equipment Organise the physical installation of ground system equipment delivered by contractors in the infrastructure Procure and manage industrial support contracts for infrastructure installations and cabling Interface with the General Services GES and Information Communication Technology ICT divisions for all general site infrastructure matters, including support to office IMAC Installs, Moves, Adds and Changes Perform hardware BreakFix support Monitor service level for assigned service calls, including administrative duties like updating tickets and maintaining infrastructure documentation, to ensure that quality and service level goals are achieved Expert level use of infrastructure information system such as DCIM Data Centre Infrastructure Management and cabling management systems. Qualifications A University degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Network Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. Skills and Experience Experience of maintenance and operations of mediumsize data centres or similar infrastructure, including adoption of modern technologies for achieving energy efficiency Proven experience in the planning, implementation and operations of complex technical infrastructure, including internal and external cable plants, patch connections, interbuildings and interrooms connectivity of mission control centers, offices, technical rooms and engineering and operational support rooms, making use of cable management and DCIM systems in a 247 operational environment Experience with cabling topologies, design and layout of cable plants, duct layout for data cables Working knowledge of office software tools such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Project. Project management experience Strong customer focus with ability to exercise good judgment in conflicting situations Excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and autonomously with a minimum of supervision under high workloads More about us EUMETSATs role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisations Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide. EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.
