Solenix is specialized in the provision of highquality software engineering, technical consulting and operations services in the aerospace domain. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. We are looking for a Software Engineer for our client, EUMETSAT. You will provide support to the Data Centre Operations DCO team which ensures the operation of the complete archiving and longterm preservation of data and products from EUMETSATs satellites including the metadata of products generated. Your tasks will include, but not be limited to Provision of 1st Line Support to all Data Centre supported Services Execution of Routine Operational Tasks Contribute to the Configuration of tools used for Data Centre Operations Conduct the integration, validation verification testing of the service releases Preparation of Services Key Performance Indicators KPIs Development of Data Centre utilities for operations Provision of technical support to the evolution of the Data Centre services Contribute to the user preparation of service evolutions Required Skills and Experience A university degree or equivalent in a relevant engineeringscience discipline Experience in Unix Linux OS, software development in Java, working with Relational Databases and SQL, scripting in Shell, Perl or Python Proven experience in using MS Office at least MS Word and MS Outlook Experience in several of the following skills Applying the software development life cycle for systems development i.e. Proven record for the specification and validation of system and user requirements Experience in writing of test plans and related documentation for verifying and validating computing systems, development and user documentation Experience in testing and using test automation of software e.g., QFS Using Source code control systems such as GitLab Continuous Integration and Deployment Technologies GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc. Rest APIs Software Development Environments such as Eclipse XMLXSDXLT and their associated tools An operations environment supporting the analysis and resolution of system anomalies, and user support issues Remote Sensing Data and their Formats Documentation management systems Desirable Skills and Experience Practical knowledge of the following will be a distinct advantage Experience in the development of the product formats in netCDF and HDF Good knowledge of standards, conventions and guidelines for the specification of metadata for Earth Observation data, for example Climate and Forecast Conventions, as well as their visualisation and processing Experience with Meteorological data formats such as McIDAS, GeoTiff, BUFR and GRIB Hosted Processing Technologies Dask, Docker Swam, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, etc. Experience with using tools such as IDV, McIDASV, IDL and THREDDS Knowledge of OGC standards and Web Map Services Geographical Information Systems Basic understanding of statistics generation and the use of analytical tools Experience in software development in CC Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 30 June 2021 Start of Work 01 August 2021 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page How to Apply on the Solenix website under Career.
