A vacancy has arisen for a Design Engineer for the Mechanical Design Office with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design, working within a transnational engineering group or project team environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Catia Design Engineer to join a supportive yet challenging environment, with the opportunity to take responsibility for projects, and to follow a clearly defined career path. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Responsible for the production of drawings, models, assembly models, Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notes, and take full responsibility for the control, correctness, accuracy and relevance of these Gain a full understanding of design instruction, Mechanical Design Office processes procedures then perform Design Office tasks accordingly Adherence to interface requirements and within defined volume constraints, clash detection Fit, form function of the design including tolerance studies Manufacturability of design with cost considerations Involvement with bids, studies, R D Process Improvements Sprint Configuration Provide cost and schedule inputs to perform the design activities Regular reporting to group leader and project including the use of the Design Office task sheet The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Minimum of degree, HND or equivalent in Mechanical Aerospace engineering Design engineer with a strong engineering technical background Excellent working knowledge of Catia V5 minimum of 1000 hours commercial experience Desirable skills 3D Com VPM Background in aerospace engineering TO APPLY click here
