EE launches LTE-Advanced network
2013-11-05 09:18:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) UK mobile operator EE has launched LTE-Advanced, raising the top speed of its network to 300 Mbps. EE will test the new network with companies in London's Tech City before a commercial launch in mid-2014. The network was unveiled by EE CEO Olaf Swantee at the Huawei Global Mobile Broadband Forum in London. Huawei is EE's equipment supplier on the 4G network. The new network is based on carrier aggregation, bringing together 20MHz of 1,800MHz spectrum and 20MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum. EE's user trial will start using a CAT6 Huawei router, supporting mobile Wi-Fi up to twenty devices and speeds of up to 200 Mbps over 802.11ac. EE expects that the first commercially available mobile Wi-Fi units will be introduced by summer 2014, also by Huawei, with handsets to follow in the second half of the year.
