On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled EarthCARE Engineering Support to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands. SPECIFIC TASKS Within this position the following support activities will be executed Provide satellite level system engineering support covering satellite, instrument and platform level performance, functional and environmental aspects. Critically review and coordinate system level, satellite level, instrument level and platform level functional and environmental AIVAIT plans and procedures and support subsequent discussions with the industrial consortium on the findings by providing specialist knowledge on satellite, platform and instruments. This task shall be performed in coordination with specialist engineering support as well as dedicated AITAIV support from TEC. Support the definition, coordination and execution of the satellite level functional and environmental test campaigns, including presence at the prime Contractor premises or environmental test facilities as needed. Coordinate the contributions and participation of specialist engineering and AITAIV support from TEC and perform engineering assessment of the resulting output. Support any failure investigations, including providing specialist support and engineering assessment to the investigations and participation to NonConformance Review Boards. Coordinate the review of Satellite level, platform level and instrument level Verification Control Documents and coordinate specific Verification Control Boards. Coordinate the review of Flight Operations Manuals and Flight Operations Procedures in close cooperation with instrument and platform engineers, specialist TEC support, ESOC and industry operations teams. Support the validation of the Flight Operations Procedures, provide assistance and coordination to the preparations and execution of the System Validation Tests. Participate to the simulations campaigns in preparation of LEOP and Commissioning activities and coordinate participation of specialist engineering support from TEC. Support the satellite launch campaign. Support the preparation and execution of the LEOP and Commissioning phases as well as preparation for the routine operations phase. REQUIREMENTS Masters degree in engineering or physics with relevant background and experience in space projects and associated technology developments. 4 years of experience in the development of advanced onboard technologies for space applications, ideally in EO domain. Experience in Space Projects for Earth Observation. Experience with System Performance Simulation and EndtoEnd Satellite Data Flow, including data processing, is desirable. Knowledge of remote sensing techniques used in Earth Observation missions. Knowledge of Matlab, STK or similar tools. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficient in the English language spoken and written.
