ODYSSEUS Space is searching for an FPGA Communications Engineer with 3 or more years of experience in FPGArelated development. Description of the Job As an FPGA Communication Engineer of ODYSSEUS Space, you will be responsible for definition, implementation, simulation, and testing of highdatarate FPGAbased encoder and decoder for CYCLOPS laser communication terminals. As a part of a larger team, you will contribute to the architecture of the endtoend directtoEarth laser communication system, and in later stages, validation of system performance on the ground and in orbit. The job involves design, customization and implementation of encoderdecoder IP cores in VHDL and Verilog, performing simulations, breadboarding in the lab active collaboration with systems engineer and electronics engineer for assessment of impact on the system design performing trade off analyses, setting performance expectations, and requirements for subcomponents. Requirements for applicants Engineering Degree several years of professional experience in a relevant position Experience with Xilinx and Altera FPGAs and development tools Experience in writing complex yet synthesizable VHDL code Experience with PHY and configuration of transceivers Good knowledge of telecommunications basics, such as channel coding and modulation formats Experience of working autonomously as well as working in a team Experience in writing and delivering technical documentation English oral and writing proficiency Willingness to join our team onsite and participate in a startup adventure Nice to have Previous experience in space projects Familiarity with space communications systems Experience with fibreoptical equipment and CotS transceivers Experience with highbitrate 1Gbps systems Desire to learn and share knowledge at work Selfaccountability, creativity and optimism European Union citizenship or Luxembourgish residency
