Galileo Ground Segment Operations Engineer, based at Galileo Control Centre, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany Sercos space heritage over the last 40 years has placed us in the Space News Top 50 Space Industry Manufacturing and Services Companies. For our activities in the Galileo Control Centre, we are currently seeking engineering support for monitoring and controlling the overall preparation of the ground segment and execution of the Galileo operations activities. Tasks The engineer will support the activities of the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit HSOOGC in the coordinating of the definition, deployment, validation, and operation of the Galileo Ground Control infrastructure, as required to meet the overall Galileo service needs. The Ground Control Segment infrastructure is deployed and operated mainly in the Galileo Control Centre GCC in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany and Fucino as backup. In addition GCS elements are deployed at the LEOP centres Darmstadt, Toulouse. Remote elements, like the five SBand TTCF stations, are deployed around the globe. The support will be provided to the Galileo Constellation Operations unit, and in support of the ESA Control Centre Operations Evolution Engineer at GCCD, covering the following activities Monitoring the activities of the Operations Service provider on its operations and maintenance activities of the Galileo Control Segment in the GCCs and the remote sites Followup the development, integration, verification and operational validation of the Galileo Ground Control segment within the context of the overall Galileo system Support the development of requirements for evolution of the Galileo Control Segment to improve operability Support the procurement process for the Operations Service Provider for the Ground Control Segment maintenance and operations aspects, and monitor their implementation Support and coordinate the interaction between the Operations and the Ground Control Segment providers, ensuring the coherency of the maintenance and operations concept for the Control Segment, at system, segment and element level Participation on Galileo related Anomaly Review Boards, Change Control Boards, reviews panels, as required Based at Oberpfaffenhofen D, the service will also require travel to ESOC, ESTEC, Fucino IT and other European sites. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Applicants require The service providers should have University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering Significant experience of senior engineering activities in ground control of similarly complex computer infrastructure deployed for space operation related activities A proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment Good spacecraft knowledge on a subsystem level Experience in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript Security Requirements The contractor personnel will be required to hold a Galileo Security Clearance to the level of Secret. Desirable Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites Experience in instructional design methodologies A proven experience in a commercialindustrial environment andor experience related to flightconstellation operations in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV Security Clearance in view of later projects.
