Overview The Galileo Project System Engineer will report to the Head of the GalileoProject Management Support Office or to the Head of the Galileo SystemProject Control Unit and will execute hisher tasks in close cooperationwith the Galileo Procurement Managers. In the Galileo Program, ESAhas the role of System prime instead of an Industrial Prime and TechnicalDesign Authority while the EC is the Program Manager. This position covers system engineering tasks provided in support to theGalileo Project Management team, namely in the areas of Technicalschedule control, Technical reviews organization, project riskmanagement, project cost control and procurement. The specific tasks are Contribute to the preparation of the Galileo system prime schedules, customerfurnished items list and Galileo system design, development and validation plan technical coreplanning document. Controlling schedules of the industrial technical activities and progress with respect toplans by reviewing progress reports, participating to progress and technical meetings Contributing to the preparation of tender and contract change documents coveringtechnical schedule, risk management, programmatic and financial matters, participatingin the evaluation of industrial proposals and contract change documents Participate in the negotiations of industrial proposals for the areas of technical schedule,risk and financial matters Contributing to preparing preliminary change implementation proposals in response toprogram level technical change requests from the EC as Program Manager andor GSA entity responsible for the Galileo operations covering financial, risk and technicalscheduling aspects Organising and participating in ESA technical reviews of industrial activities involvingcoordination with external entities such as EC, GSA and other securityrelated bodies asrequired Contributing to the project risk management function by identifying and documentingrisks, analysing its probabilityimpact and proposing appropriate mitigation actions Contributing to preparation and analysis of internalexternal status reports and plans, Interface with industrial primes in support to the Galileo Procurement Managers ensuringindustry compliance with established formal requirements for management, costs,technical schedule and riskreporting. Please note that ESA request is for 2 FTEs. Specific qualification requirements University Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering. Relevant experience as engineer, with at least 4 years in the aerospace field. Previous experience in project management and negotiation in industrialcontext. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills, aswell as planning and organisation skills, attention to detail and be able towork effectively in a team environment. They should possess sound judgment have integrity and good communications skills. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English isessential. Applicants must be willing to do some travelling. NOTE They must be eligible for Galileo security clearance by their nationalsecurity administration. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
