For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Ground Segment Engineer HSO Engineering Development Lab at ESOC. Tasks This position covers a System Engineering service. The successful service provider will be assigned to the HSOGE Office, which is responsible for the HSO Engineering Development Laboratory HEDLab. HEDLab is a unique facility providing a representative, reference end to end ground segment and simulated space segment. The integration and testing of ground segment elements e.g. MC systems, ground station components etc., throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, from supplier to enduser, takes place in HEDLab. Also critical mission tests, e.g. RF compatibility tests between sc and ground stations, are performed from HEDLab. In addition HEDLab is the environment where integration and validation of new ground segment components, standards and technologies takes place at any maturity stage, allowing assessment, confidence building and risk reduction for target customer missions. HEDLab is also the platform for Independent Verification and Validation, both at ground segment subsystem and system level. An ESA internal HEDLab team has already identified a preliminary set of test scenarios suitable for the purposes specified above. The Tasks carried out in this position shall consist of the following Review with the HEDLab team the already identified test list, complement and prioritise as suitable Document the agreed list of tests and define a plan for their definition and deployment For each test Define, in cooperation with the relevant HEDlab team members the test steps and document them in the test management tools part of the HSOG SDE. The tests shall be translated from the existing operational GAIA specific formulation into a generic engineering formulation. The test assembly, i.e. which infrastructure or mission specific systems are involved in the test, shall be specified taking into account both efficiency as well as representativeness of the test. Where applicable the source from where the test has been derived shall be documented. Execute the test cases in the HEDLab environment in cooperation with the relevant HEDLAB team members, in order to confirm completeness and correctness. Investigate any issues identified either with the HEDLab Environment or with the systems in the test chain. Document the investigation results and cooperate with the relevant HEDLab team members for their solution. In case of SPRs represent HEDLab in the relevant CCbsSRBs. Support the HEDLab team responsible for test automation, by providing inside knowledge of the test scenarios and detailed steps. This may result in updates to the test specs to be implemented. Produce a complete test plan, incl. test results Report on the progress on a regular basis. Essential requirements The following experience is mandatory Deep knowledge of ESOC end to end Ground Segment Architecture, its component systems and interfaces, incl. applicable standards Multiyear operational experience with mission operations and ground segment validation activities extensively involving SCOS2000 based mission control systems Experience in ground segment IVV activities, including specification and execution of subsystem and system tests at different stages of the Ground Segment lifecycle Ability to work independently and efficiently at senior level Desirable requirements The following is considered desirable Experience with development and execution of operational procedures Other Information Start date is 1st June 2015 Fluency in English is mandatory The candidate must have a valid German work and residence permit or be an EU Citizen To ensure your application reaches us please apply online at httpwww.scisys.dewowirarbeitenspacekarrierespacejobs.html
