LSE Space is looking for an Engineer mf fulfilling the task of Ground Segment Operations Engineering to support the Galileo Project in Oberpfaffenhofen. The Galileo Project requires engineering support for monitoring and controlling the overall preparation and execution of the Galileo operations activities. The service will support the activities of the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit HSOOGC in coordinating the definition, preparation, testing, validation, and implementation of the Galileo constellation operations, as required to meet the overall Galileo enduser services needs. The Ground Control Segment infrastructure is deployed and operated mainly in the Galileo Control Centre GCC in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany and Fucino as backup. In addition GCS elements are deployed at the LEOP centres Darmstadt, Toulouse. Remote elements, like the five SBand TTCF stations, are deployed around the globe. The service will be provided to the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit in particular the ESA Control Segment Operations Engineer at GCCD, covering the following tasks Monitoring the activities of the Operations Service provider on its operations and maintenance activities of the Galileo Control Segment in the GCCs and the remote sites Followup the development, integration, verification and operational validation of the Galileo Ground Control segment within the context of the overall Galileo system Support the development of requirements for evolution of the Galileo Control Segment to improve operability Support the procurement process for the Operations Service Provider for the Ground Control Segment maintenance and operations aspects, and monitor their implementation Support and coordinate the interaction between the Operations and the Ground Control Segment providers, ensuring the coherency of the maintenance and operations concept for the Control Segment, at system, segment and element level Participation on Galileo related Anomaly Review Boards, Change Control Boards, reviews panels, as required. Required qualifications and work experience A University Degree in Aerospace Engineering or in an equivalent discipline Significant experience of senior engineering activities in ground control of similarly complex computer infrastructure deployed for space operation related activities. Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV will be considered an asset. Good spacecraft knowledge on a subsystem level Experience in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript Security Clearance in view of later projects Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites. Experience in instructional design methodologies Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects Additional skills required Systemminded and a team player Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Location The position will be based in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany, the service will also require travel to ESOC, ESTEC, Fucino IT and other European sites.
