DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Hector was located near latitude 14.1 North, longitude 126.9 West. Hector is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in intensity are expected tonight and Friday. Strengthening is expected after that, and Hector is forecast to strengthen into a major hurricane by Saturday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 973 mb (28.74 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
