DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Kenneth was located near latitude 20.0 North, longitude 132.5 West. Kenneth is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and a turn toward the north-northwest is expected later today. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional rapid weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Kenneth is expected to weaken to a tropical storm later today. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 978 mb (28.88 inches).
