DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 27.9 North, longitude 41.1 West. Leslie is moving toward the east-northeast near 12 mph (19 km/h). This general motion with some increase in forward speed is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours, with weakening forecast over the weekend. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 240 miles (390 km).
