DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Norman was located near latitude 16.3 North, longitude 123.0 West. Norman is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h). A general westward to west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through early next week. On the forecast track, Norman will approach the central Pacific basin on Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast to continue today. Little change in intensity is expected beginning Sunday through early next week. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 966 mb (28.53 inches).
