DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Norman was located near latitude 19.3 North, longitude 136.6 West. Norman is moving toward the west near 20 mph (31 km/h). This general motion is expected for the next couple of days, with a turn toward the west- northwest anticipated on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued slow weakening is forecast for the next 72 hours. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 967 mb (28.56 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
